The 7th International Conference on Data-driven Optimization of Complex Systems (DOCS 2025)

The 6th International Conference on Data-Driven Optimization of Complex Systems was successfully held at Hangzhou Normal University from August 16th to 18th, 2024. The conference was hosted by the Trustworthy and General Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (TGAI) of Westlake University, organized by Hangzhou Normal University, and co-organized by Muyuan Laboratory, with technical support provided by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. 


The conference featured a diverse range of activities, including plenary speeches, invited speeches, young scholars forum, oral presentation sessions, poster display sessions, and academic visits. It attracted over 200 experts and scholars from more than 100 universities and research institutions worldwide, such as Tongji University, Sun Yat-sen University, Northeastern University, Anhui University, Newcastle University, and the University of Tokyo. Participants gathered in Hangzhou, creating a vibrant atmosphere for academic exchange.

Welcome Address

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Yao-Chu JinMember of Academia Europaea, President of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, and a professor at Westlake University. He warmly welcomed all the attending experts and scholars and provided a detailed introduction to the history and development of DOCS. The DOCS conference aims to promote the exchange of the latest research achievements in the field of complex system optimization and has been successfully held for five editions.


Professor Weihua Gui, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice President of the Chinese Association of Automation, and Director of the Academic Committee of Central South University, emphasized the significance of complex system optimization in modern science. He expressed his hope that the attending scholars and industry professionals would engage in thorough exchanges and in-depth discussions, contributing to the national innovation-driven development strategy.


Professor Hua Hu, Vice President of Hangzhou Normal University, as the host of the conference, extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests and delegates attending the event. Vice President Hu emphasized that the DOCS 2024 conference is a significant meeting that aligns with the trends of emerging technologies and showcases the latest research achievements and advancements in the field of data-driven optimization.


Professor Fei Wu, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Vice Dean, and Party Committee Secretary of the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University, emphasized the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in the current societal development during the opening ceremony. He expressed his expectations for the successful convening of this DOCS international conference and looked forward to the participants collectively sparking innovative ideas.


Professor Ben Wang, Dean of the School of Information Science and Technology at Hangzhou Normal University, delivered an opening speech before the afternoon's invited talks. He emphasized the importance of optimizing complex systems in the field of information science, extended a warm welcome to all participants of DOCS 2024, and expressed his expectations for the smooth progress of this international conference.

In addition, the conference invited eight distinguished guests from related fields to engage in discussions at the Young Scholars Forum. Forty-five scholars presented oral reports, and forty-nine scholars showcased their research through on-site poster presentations. Together, they highlighted the latest international research achievements in the field. The atmosphere was vibrant and dynamic, with various forms of interaction providing valuable opportunities for experts and scholars to further cross-regional and cross-institutional communication and collaboration.


Closing Ceremony

During the closing ceremony, Professor Yao-Chu Jin, Member of Academia Europaea, President of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, and faculty member at Westlake University, along with Professor Chun'er Zhou, Party Secretary of the School of Information Science and Technology at Hangzhou Normal University, delivered closing remarks. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all individuals who contributed to the success of the conference. Additionally, the event featured the presentation of several awards, including Best Poster, Best Student Paper Nomination, Best Student Paper, Best Paper Nomination, and Best Paper, recognizing outstanding contributions and achievements.


The "International Conference on Data-Driven Optimization of Complex Systems," initiated by Professor Yao-Chu Jin, has successfully held its first five sessions in Hefei, Taiyuan, Xuzhou, Chengdu, and Tianjin, respectively. This year's conference concluded successfully at Hangzhou Normal University. The professional presentations and lively discussions at the conference are expected to further advance the fields of artificial intelligence and data science, fostering deeper exploration and exchange of theories, technologies, and practical applications in data-driven optimization. We look forward to the next conference, where experts and scholars will gather once again to lay a solid foundation for future research collaboration, project partnerships, and talent exchange, building a broader international platform for academic communication and cooperation!
